In my opinion, there was a passion and a sense of optimism in 2007. "Big name" signings, plenty of Cro players, loads of preseason matches at home that we were winning got people interested. A slow start in the league but then we started to fire, we made the finals after 5 years, actually winning our first final in 9 years just to narrowly miss out against the eventual champions. The juniors were playing on the other pitches as well, which meant everyone was around the same venue.

But after that, Cro players were forced out for anglo backpackers, red-white-blue was replaced with something disgusting, whorehouse sponsorship signage flooded the ground, juniors had to find another venue to play because the other grounds were dustbowls. Not playing a match at home until mid May didn't help this year either.

Now the agenda has been set for the new season: Cro coach and players will be embraced and embarrasing sponsors are no longer welcome. If the juniors can come back that will be a big plus. But we shall wait and see...

As for double-headers, the only realistic option would be St Albans. North Geelong and Dandy City are too far away, any other club is too small. But the problem lies in working out the fine print, in particular the money side.
